Safe, rapid geotechnical data capture in high stress environments

Mining at more than 3000 metres means dealing with high ground stress, deformation, and seismic activity.

They use Hovermap throughout the mine to conduct remote inspections of stopes and drives.

“There’s no doubt that the future of mining, especially deep and high-stress mining, involves more and more remote inspection,” Kidd Operations mine technical services manager Iain McKillip said.

“The deeper we mine, the more we look at going back into closed areas, the more we need tools that can help us get there from a distance. And Hovermap is one of those tools that can do that.”
