Ploughing through plant commissioning delays

A diverter plough has been installed on one of the newest mine sites in the Pilbara region of Western Australia, helping the operators commission a new processing plant much quicker than they expected.

This innovative way of diverting material off the conveyor belt before it reaches the head pulley results in the creation of two stockpiles into purpose-built chutes.

Importantly, this has occurred while the train loader was still being built further upstream at this “under construction” Pilbara site.

This avoided the necessity for the operators to completely shut down the conveying system until the new train loader was finished and commissioned, saving a significant amount of time and lost profitability.
