Mine-digitalisation, like enterprise-wide digital transformations, has radically changed our industry over the past decade. Technology vendors now provide solutions to improve productivity across the mining value chain, and unless you were living under the proverbial rock, you haven’t escaped mining’s AI hype.
So, what has changed over the last 12 months? There is now a lot of substance to back-up the hype. AI is quickly becoming a general-purpose technology (GPT) and implementations are occurring throughout the mining value chain. These implementations include underground operations and sites with limited communications infrastructure.
